RESULTS: February 2, 2008
Twenty four shooters attended our February 2nd match, and they were treated to beautiful weather and a great shooting day. Ten shooters were F-Classers and fourteen were prone shooters. The competition was close as it always is at Palo Alto. Recent rains did not affect the range, and there was no water standing on the range. The pits were a little muddy, but not really a problem. I would put the wind conditions at slightly above our normal condition, which is to say more difficult as the day wore on. It did not seem to affect our big winners, Don Geraci on the F-Class side nor Gary Henry Prone. Don shot a nice 588-29x with his new 6.5 barrel, while Gary continues to pound out 10’s and X’s with his .308 Palma rifle.
The F-Open class winner was Paul Guy, three points behind Geraci with 585-20x. In the F-TR class, Duane Landry shooting his .308 off bi-pod took top honors with 570-15x.
The prone HM class was won by Lanny Russell with 584-23x. The Master class was won by Joe Mistretta who fired a nice 590-23x score. In the combined Expert/Marksman class, Ronald Kliebert was the leader with 571-14x.
Thanks to Lee Shall for running the line for us, and also to Gary Henry and Rob Stevens for prepping the targets for the match. Rob drove in from Houston to attend our little match. Our next match will be Saturday March 1st. Remember that Palo Alto will host a Smallbore prone match this coming Saturday February 9.
